WNY Over The Air had the opportunity to talk over Zoom with the Business Development Manager and Vice President of Operations at XGen Network, LLC, the company behind America's first 5G Broadcast. I had questions ranging from 5G Broadcast device support to their stance on DRM Encryption. WWOO-LD received a STA from the FCC, not to use ATSC 1.0 or ATSC 3.0, but to use 5G Broadcast, the cellular industry's equivalent to ATSC 3.0. Allowing WWOO-LD to start using 5G Broadcast shows that the FCC is open to other broadcasting technologies that could be used on the public airwaves.
